Woman scientist looking through a microscope

The Bioversity Impact Evaluation Report delivers an independent look at how Bioversity’s life sciences training program is opening pathways to career-launching jobs and long-term economic mobility for underserved learners in Massachusetts. Commissioned by Bioversity, a Massachusetts based nonprofit launched by MassBio to create and implement life science training initiatives, and conducted by BW Research Partnership, the evaluation draws on participant and industry employer surveys, stakeholder interviews, and human-centered design insights to assess outcomes, industry alignment, and opportunities for program enhancement.

In its first two years, Bioversity has graduated more than 120 students from historically underrepresented and low-income communities with strong preparation for entry-level laboratory and biomanufacturing roles—achieving an 80% placement rate into full-time careers that more than doubled participants’ average earnings and expanded access to critical benefits. Employers report that graduates demonstrate foundational lab skills, readiness for workplace environments, and strong interpersonal competencies.

This evaluation not only highlights meaningful impacts on individuals and local talent pipelines but also identifies strategic enhancements to expand Bioversity’s role in strengthening Massachusetts’ life sciences workforce.
