China is a Research Analyst at BW Research Partnership specializing in projects
involving energy economics, workforce development, and equity-centered policy. China has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics and Policy with a minor in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley.
China’s work is rooted in advancing equitable clean energy transitions across
communities in the United States. Her experience spans policy, research, and
implementation, from supporting democratic energy policy in California to engaging in climate leadership in Rhode Island.
Prior to joining BW Research, she worked for the Office of the California Senate President pro Tempore, where she researched strategies to expedite transmission development. She also contributed to legislative and regulatory strategy at Ava Community Energy, a community choice aggregator, and supported data and process automation efforts at Solstice Power Technologies, a Massachusetts-based community solar company.
Through her research with the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Lab (RAEL) at UC Berkeley, China analyzed survey data as part of an effort to improve power reliability and frequency inconsistencies at health facilities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She also served as an advisor to UC Berkeley’s Clean Energy Campus Plan, Office of Sustainability, and the Haas School of Business Center for Responsible Business.
At BW Research Partnership, China has expanded her capabilities in human-centered design methods, survey research, and economic modeling. She has contributed to major state and regional initiatives, including New York’s Energy Efficiency and Building Electrification Workforce Assessment, Maine’s Clean Energy Industry Report, and a climate workforce planning grant for the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
