What We Do
Strengthening Capacity, Resilience, and Competitiveness
BW Research examines supply chain ecosystems to identify gaps, growth opportunities, and workforce readiness. Our work helps industries and regions understand production capacity, supplier networks, and economic dependencies. Using data analysis and stakeholder engagement, we provide actionable strategies to build more resilient and competitive supply chains.
Long-Standing Knowledge Mapping and Analyzing Supply Chains
Long-Standing Knowledge Mapping and Analyzing Supply Chains
BW has substantial experience examining supply chains, including identifying market strengths and options to grow supply chains in nearly a dozen states with concentrations in energy and advanced manufacturing. Our integrated approach enables state and local governments, economic development organizations, and utilities to pursue coordinated strategies that strengthen both regional supply chain competitiveness and the workforce systems that sustain them.
We have deep expertise in cataloguing and connecting supply chain relationships that exist across emerging technologies and industries, resulting in an awareness of high-value components and existing knowledge of current manufacturing capacities in competitor states. We have co-developed solutions with key state agencies and their partners to strengthen a state’s domestic and international competitiveness and attract different segments of technology-specific supply chains.
Deep Expertise Analyzing Energy-Connected Supply Chains
Deep Expertise Analyzing Energy-Connected Supply Chains
BW brings extensive experience in mapping energy supply chains, engaging directly with industry stakeholders, and developing policy and investment strategies tailored to emerging energy sectors. We understand that value chains differ widely by technology, manufacturing tier, and market readiness—and that nuanced, data-driven insights are critical for actionable policy and program design.
We are currently working to identify and map the current supply chain components for advanced nuclear construction and operations. This includes an analysis of opportunities to localize the supply chain and attract businesses to the region, an examination of existing state programs supporting nuclear supply chain growth, and modeling the economic impact of new projects.
BW recently conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the electric vehicle supply chain nationally and in specific states. Included in this assessment was an analysis of all firms in adjacent industries that could transition to electric transportation work, as well as supporting industries. Other supply chain evaluations include offshore wind, clean fuels, and building electrification.
