As inflation continues to reach record numbers in the United States, questions on where federal investments should go are increasing. The Nature Conservancy commissioned BW Research to examine the economic impact of climate policy investments on the American workforce and economy. The report focuses on six policy groups totaling $412 billion in federal investment over 10 years, displaying how investments like these can support jobs, increase workers earnings, and generate taxes.
On the national level, the report found that climate investments supported nearly 676,000 jobs annually for 10 years and contributed $58.1 billion in value added annually over 10 years. Additionally, almost $31.2 billion was generated in employee compensation annually for 10 years and more than $6.2 billion in annual, local, state, and federal tax revenue for 10 years.
BW Research further analyzed the economic impacts at the state level for Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Findings include more than $1.9 billion in value added annually over 10 years for Pennsylvania and over 8,900 jobs added annually over 10 years for Arizona.
